This was my wife's car when we got married last year. She's from NC so she isn't used to driving in the snow. I've bought her a 4x4 blazer so now the mazda needs to go. This car has a 1.5 liter DOHC engine that gets 28-30mpg and runs well. The car has 175k mostly highway miles. I just put new brake pads and rotors on the front as well as replaced both front wheel bearings (one was starting to go so I replaced both). This would make a great first car or an around town car.
