About the Position:

The Admissions Data Specialist manages all major technology processes for the Office of Admissions including use of the student information system (Datatel Colleague). He /she serves as the primary technology specialist (super user) for the Office of Admissions, and performs a variety of challenging operational processes, functions, and tasks that require a degree of independent judgment and discretion to assist the department in achieving the desired new student enrollment goals identified in the Marygrove College Strategic Plan.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Process admissions data including receipt, entry, verification, or filing of applications, transcripts, and other admission credentials into student information system (Datatel.

* Manage the process by which the inquiries and applications for admission are submitted, imported, acknowledged, completed, and distributed to Admissions counselors/officers/coordinators for decisions.

* Develop data management plans that address areas such as data coding, reporting, or transfer, and work flow processes.

* Perform quality control audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, or proper usage of admission data and resolve identified problems.

* Design forms for receiving, processing, or tracking data.

* Confer with admissions staff to define or implement system requirements such as data release formats, delivery schedules, and testing protocols.

* Maintain and develop communication plan flow rules.

* Troubleshoot and problem-solve all technology related issues for Office of Admissions.

* Recommend system and process changes to improve business practice.

* Participate as an Admissions team member while working diligently and willingly towards the Admissions Department goals and objectives.

* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.

* Understand the college's mission; implement and abide by college policies.


Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of three years administrative/marketing/customer service experience in a professional work environment required.

* Creativity and problem solving skills strongly preferred.

* 2-3 years of technology experience and support preferably in a higher education environment.

* This person must be a quick learner in a fast-paced environment.

* The person in this position should demonstrate eagerness and willingness to assume new responsibilities with demonstrated accuracy in data entry using multiple student databases.

* Superior verbal, organizational, written, professional, and interpersonal skills and the ability to interface and communicate effectively with a customer service focus is a must. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, business writing, punctuation and spelling. Demonstrated ability to compose and appropriately format correspondence and reports.

* A thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Business, Management Information Systems, Organizational Management or a related field.

* Experience managing student information systems/databases, including Datatel or comparable software.

* Experience with developing reports via reporting tools (e.g., Crystal.

* Experience analyzing data.
