Founded in 1915 after consultations with physicians at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Mayo Clinic, the Henry Ford Medical Group has established itself as one of the premier group practices in the nation.
The Medical Group has 200 primary care physicians practicing at more than 25 outpatient centers located in metro Detroit. They have particular expertise in preventive care services and the health management of senior citizens. In addition, Henry Ford specialists provide consultative services to both internal and external physicians, team care for medically complex patients, and comprehensive surgical services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.ResponsibilitiesResearch Laboratory Coordinator/Supervisor. Research Laboratory position is available in the Department of Internal Medicine of Henry Ford Hospital in the Hypertension and Vascular Research Division. Minimum requirements are a BS in Biology or related discipline and at least 3 years of laboratory/engineering experience (at least 2 years coordinating/supervising). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The position comes with a generous benefit package including, medical/vision/dental insurance, and retirement/pension plan. The successful applicant will be expected to work under minimal supervision, have sufficient manual dexterity to operate complex laboratory equipment and be able to follow established policies and procedures. Responsibilities will include: 1) maintaining laboratory equipment and providing training in its use, 2) learning and providing training in animal surgeries, 3) maintaining records for animals, radioactive material, and divisional data, 4) incorporating new procedures/technology into laboratory routine, 5) maintaining division software (Microsoft Office Professional , Reference Manager, Sigma-Plot and Adobe Acrobat) and assisting in computer training, and 6) providing an interface with institutional Information Technology department.
The Division of Hypertension and Vascular Research currently has 10 faculty performing cardiovascular and renal research, more than $4 million of annual grant support, and is associated with the School of Medicine at Wayne State University.
